Season starts with Bendigo sprints
A large contingent of club members decked out in their new HRC club race gear represented Hawthorn last weekend at the Bendigo Sprints Regatta.It was great to see some of our new learn to row members & juniors joining the squad for the first time.
The club recorded 5 wins with FM4x+, MM4x+, X4+, MC4x+ and U152X. Congratulations to all winners pictured in the gallery below.
Upcoming Regattas
The next two regattas for the club this season will Head of the Goulburn next weekend - October 28th, followed by the Melbourne Head - November 18th.
Expressions of interest for next weekend’s regatta are now closed. We expect to be boating multiple quads alongside Male and Female Master’s Eights.
Captain will put out a call for entries 10 days prior to each regatta. Full regatta details are in the RV Regatta Calendar
HRC Club Working Bee Sunday November 12th
A range of tasks need attention to prepare our club for the 2023 Head of the Yarra. Please set aside some time to assist in the cleanup, garden maintenance, preparation of equipment and gear we use in the execution of the club’s signature event.
Sunday November 12th between 9.00 am and 1.00pm. Note Rowing Development will commence earlier at 8.00am that Sunday to enable all participants to join in after their training session.
Rowing Development
Club regatta-crew development for the season facilitated by Head coach Simon Harrison is now in full swing.
If you are interested in participating in the RD sessions, either as an individual or as a crew, please register for each session online.
A link to RD booking via the Acuity App on your phone can also be found on this page.
Regular participation at these training sessions is encouraged. For each session, the captain and coach will allocate rowers to crews, with established crews prioritised to row together where possible.
RD sessions take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5.45pm - 7.15 pm and on Sundays from 9.00am.
Club Rowing Survey
Head Coach Simon Harrison would like the active membership to provide some detail on their personal aims for the season to assist him with planning / coaching.
To assist him we’ve created a short 7 question Survey Monkey survey to help collate responses.

One Month to Race Day
The 2023 Head of the Yarra on November 25th is only 4 weeks away with the committee set to meet only one more time before race day.
Entry is now closed with over 250 crews signed up to race.
