Regatta Results March 7th

Victorian State Championships March 5-6 Wrap.

 Two State Titles to HRC.

Hawthorn had 26 members representing the club last weekend at the Victorian State Championships.

On Saturday over the over the 2000mt course, Archie Critchell won the Male Schoolboy Open Sculls title plus bronze medal with Max Currie in the Under 19 Male 2X. Separately Max Currie won silver in the U19 male 1X. Congratulations to both boys on a marvellous result.

On Sunday over the 1000mtr course, the early races for masters singles and pairs were cancelled due to conditions. Events in the middle of the program were conducted in rough conditions and the regatta was abandoned at about 4 pm prior to final races for 12 members of the squad.

The day’s highlight of yet another race abandoned Ballarat regatta was a State Title to Rob Flocas & George Keon-Cohen for the Male C Pair.

The squad particularly wants to thank Greg Sullings who towed the Trailer up early morning, sat around all day, only to see both his morning and afternoon race finals cancelled without a race. That’s Ballarat!

We plan to stage a club race in the next 3 weeks for our two Masters 4’s over 1000mts to determine our own State Champion of this race which was abandoned on the day.
