And a new season begins…….
The Hawthorn Rowing Club AGM was conducted as a zoom meeting on Sunday 25th July.
Reports from the President, Captain, Treasurer and Head of the Yarra Chair were noted.
In summary the Club’s finances are sound, we have a strong and vibrant rowing membership, and this year’s Head of the Yarra is already oversubscribed by 100 crews. (Recent delta-strain breakouts however put doubts on what may eventuate in late November).
We learnt that the new staging is now delayed till April ‘22 because the company doing the civil works are caught up in the Sydney lockdown. What timing, given we were due to start this week!
We also learnt that the club has approved the purchase of a lightweight eight as a spine to the women’s competitive rowing program in the coming season.
The new committee for Season 21/22 was instated. We congratulated Janet Conos who will go down in history as HRC’s first female President. Her appointment speaks to the value of her contributions to the club’s administration over the last twelve months and is reflective of the changing membership profile of the club.
Finally club awards for season 2021 were recorded, with baggy blues awarded to seven HRC Season ‘21 Champions.

The Victorian government has legislated penalties for any business not enforcing QR code sign-in and tracking of patrons.
To ensure compliance all people attending the clubhouse must scan the QR code before entering the clubhouse.
Recognising mobile phones and rowing zoots are not always compatible, I suggest you print out a copy of the code and leave it in your car or scan it at home each time before you attend the clubhouse.
