Season 2020/21 Wrap-up

Video of HRC in action at regattas in season 2020/21.

 Hawthorn members have attended 13 regattas since the Covid affected season 2020/21 finally got underway in December 2020.

The Club has racked up 26 wins, with 29 of our rowers and 5 coxswains partaking in the tally.

We have taken out 6 State Titles for the season and had representation from our U17’s Max Currie and Archie Critchell at the nationals, making it to the Semis and Finals across their 3 boat classes.

In the Masters ranks Conrad Tullock has selection into the Victorian Master’s 8 which will row in the national Masters championships in South Australia at the end of May.

The most heavily attended regatta by Hawthorn for the season was the Victorian State Masters regatta with 42 members taking part. There were many great performances, but it was particularly pleasing to see four Hawthorn Eights racing on the Saturday, and the club gaining a State Title for the Male and Female Masters E8+

Our volunteer-run club only works through the collective efforts of its members and on behalf of the regatta squad I’d like in particular to thank;

Vic Sibillin, Andrew Vogan, and Peter Wilson for sharing the task of towing the trailers to and from regattas all season.

Our Coaches through PBR who have prepared our Juniors and Adult Learn to Row for racing.

Tristan Krveskis, our Rowing Development coach who has spent Tuesdays Thursdays and Sunday’s throughout the season looking after our training squad on the water and Noel Carter for his watchful eye and dedication to our masters squad development over the last 6 weeks.

Finally thanks to all our rowers and coxswains who put their hands up to represent Hawthorn at regattas and for the effort you put into training and into competing so well in the blue and white hoops. You’ve gained real respect amongst the Victorian Rowing community have developed a solid base which we can look forward to building upon for season 2021/22.

HRC CAPTAIN.
