Welcome to Hawthorn Rowing Club!
Hawthorn Rowing Club (HRC) is one of Melbourne’s oldest and most storied rowing clubs, founded in 1877. Nestled on the banks of the Yarra River below the Bridge Road Bridge in Hawthorn, we are dedicated to fostering a love for rowing while building a healthier, stronger community. As a non-profit organization, our mission is to promote and develop the sport of rowing across all ages and skill levels.

Head of the Yarra Regatta
HRC proudly hosts the Head of the Yarra, Southern Hemisphere’s largest rowing event for eights. This iconic 8km upstream time trial races from Melbourne’s CBD to our Hawthorn boathouse, featuring 300 crews (2,700 athletes) annually. Whether you’re competing or spectating, it’s a must-experience celebration of rowing excellence.
