JUNIOR COACHING PROGRAM

Coaching Program Options 2023 season:

1. Learn to Row Program

Introduction to rowing and a step into the Junior Squad. Once the student completes this program, they are offered the opportunity to join the club and the junior development program as a junior member which runs all year long which can be seen in the next section.

Cost for 4 sessions - $220.00

(Inclusion in the program requires upfront payment of term fees unless negotiated).

2. School Term Junior Squad Coaching Sessions

These squads will be organised in a ratio of 5 students to one coach - total of 20 Junior Members. 

Program is run as 4 x 10-week terms with 2 sessions per week after school on:

Tues 4.15pm – 6.15pm; Thurs 4.15pm – 6.15pm.

Cost for each 20 Session Term   $450.00

(Inclusion in the program requires upfront payment of term fees unless negotiated).

Term Program Dates:

Term 2 2023     9 Weeks 25 April – 22 June

Term 3 2023     10 Weeks 11 July - 14 September

Term 4 2023     11 Weeks 3 October -  14 December

Term Break TBA - Optional School Holiday Program and Junior LTR 

Key Detail:

Max 20 students enrolled each term.

Capped numbers to ensure manageable coach to student ratio

2 water sessions per week, with optional land-based training for students to join in on Wednesday Mornings

Emphasize quality of coaching training over quantity.

4 Rowing Australia certified coaches per session ( 5 Students per coach).

(Coaches have Motor Boat Licence & Working with Children credentials).

Each program runs 9-11 weeks during 4 terms throughout a year.

Opportunities to compete in regattas as part of the club representative squad.

Option for Holiday programs (subject to interest from Junior Member Advisory).

Program Aims:

Expose students to a range of rowing experience (Sculling/Sweep in small & large boats).

Give students the opportunity to participate in regattas at levels appropriate to their skill level.

 Coach who delivers the program:

Coordinate and manage all communications pertaining to JDP; (enrolments, absences etc.).

Collect enrolment fees (separate to membership fees collected by the club).

Engage and manage suitably qualified coaches.

Write and distribute weekly training program for students.

Provide ongoing professional development for coaches.

3. Private Coaching Sessions

As with adult members, our  Junior members may arrange for additional small group or private coaching lesions as a private arrangement with a club-approved coach. 

4. Club Rowing Development Sessions

During the main rowing season, the club runs three open to all, Rowing Development sessions per week. The aim is to develop regatta training squads and potential crews. The Captain, Vice-Captain and rowing development coach convene these sessions, 6pm Tues, 6pm Thursday, 8 am Sunday, running during the summer rowing season.
